Why ECX Has Different Wallet Requirements
ECX is not simply another token created independently of Bitcoin's history.
Its distribution is connected to Bitcoin snapshots, meaning eligible Bitcoin addresses can have corresponding ECX allocations on the ECX network.
That creates an unusual situation.
A Bitcoin holder may already possess the cryptographic credentials necessary to access corresponding ECX but may not have an ECX-compatible wallet in which to use it.
The challenge is therefore not necessarily creating another account.
It is providing a safe and understandable bridge between an existing Bitcoin wallet and the ECX network.

Importing a Bitcoin Wallet for ECX
Instead of requiring a separate claiming application, ECXIUM allows compatible Bitcoin wallets to be imported into the ECX wallet environment.
Two common import methods are supported:
Recovery Phrase
A Recovery Phrase can restore the wallet structure associated with it and is particularly useful when a wallet contains multiple derived addresses.
WIF Private Key
A WIF private key can be used when the user wants to access ECX associated with a specific address.
Once a compatible wallet is imported, ECXIUM can access the corresponding ECX wallet information.
There is no need to search for a separate “Claim ECX” button inside the wallet.

Importing Does Not Transfer Your Bitcoin
This is an important distinction.

Importing Bitcoin wallet credentials into an ECX wallet does not mean BTC is being converted, transferred
or deposited into ECXIUM.
Bitcoin and ECX operate on separate blockchain networks.
BTC continues to exist on Bitcoin.
ECX exists on the ECX network.
The same cryptographic wallet information may provide access to assets associated with both networks, but the assets themselves remain independent.
A good ECX wallet should make that separation understandable rather than forcing users to learn the mechanics of a blockchain fork before they can use their coins.
No Manual Coin-Splitting Workflow
Coin splitting has historically been one of the more confusing aspects of cryptocurrency forks.
After a fork, users may encounter instructions involving special transactions, temporary wallets or other procedures intended to make coins on the two networks independently spendable.
ECXIUM is designed to simplify this process through automatic BTC and ECX separation in its supported import workflow.

The way addresses are handled also depends on how a wallet was imported.
A wallet restored through a Recovery Phrase can derive multiple addresses from the same wallet structure. This makes it suitable for users who have used several Bitcoin addresses over time.
A wallet imported from an individual private key represents a much narrower case: one key corresponds to its associated address.
This distinction matters for Bitcoin holders who may have accumulated funds across multiple addresses before the relevant ECX snapshot.
Using the original Recovery Phrase can therefore provide a more complete wallet structure when appropriate.
ECX Alpha, Beta and Mainnet
Another important part of the ECX ecosystem is its staged rollout.
ECX progresses through Alpha, Beta and Mainnet environments.
Alpha and Beta are test environments. They provide an opportunity for wallets, infrastructure and users to interact with the network before permanent Mainnet ECX becomes the primary environment.
Mainnet is different because it represents permanent ECX.
